I’ve been living in Dubai for over a month now, and I am glad that I made the decision to come here. It was tough, and the first few days were the hardest, but I’m thankful I have been able to make the friends that I have.
The first two weeks were challenging. When I first arrived in Dubai, I was taken right to my accommodation. I had two days to myself before I started “induction”– an introductory week prior to training. This gave me the opportunity to check out the area I was placed in, and to get to know my “flatmate” –a fancy term for roommate.
On the first day of induction, you are divided into “batches” –groups of people. Those in your batch are referred to as your “batch mates”, and you train together for the two months you are at the Emirates Aviation College for. We ended up becoming the best of friends in my case, and have done so much together since joining!
The actual training commences during your second week. Classes can be difficult, but the support you receive from your teachers and your peers is incredible. I’m now in my fifth week, and will be receiving my full uniform soon- red hat and all!
I could go on and on about training, but if you have any specific questions you’d like me to try and answer for you, shoot me a comment either here or through social media! I’m going to do as best I can to answer them all, and update the blog every week.
